A YEAR ON THE SHARPES CUP WINNERS PLOT
The year is now beginning to get under way for all plot holders as the weather is telling us to start sowing and growing. Before we do start lets see what has been done so far this year.
The soil on this site is sandy so work can be continued through the winter and preparations for the year made when time is available. So far the plot has been cleared and the growing areas rotovated ready for planting.
Already this year a new larger polytunnel has been erected and paths laid in it on the plot to increase the covered area for growing crops.
A start has been made by planting onion sets in modules in the green house to provide a good start for them, also the first of the lettuce seeds have been sown in seed tray in the old polytunnel to sow in the tunnel for an early crop.
Some carrots have also been sown in the borders of the small tunnel again for an early crop. The garlic planted last November is growing well and the bed has had to be weeded already!
